Style Story: Work Outfits Monday Through Friday

Wow! This practice of getting a pic of my work outfits each day is proving to be so beneficial. I am seriously cleaning out my closet! For example, Wednesday’s outfit, MEH! It all needs to go despite any sentimental value. Thank goodness I had a stellar necklace on that day. And Friday’s outfit, well you’d think this 40 something-year-old would get her styling straight during those delicate times of the month. So posting these work outfits is proving to be valuable. While I don’t recommend that you post your own pics for the whole world to see if you’re not comfortable, I do highly recommend getting a shot of yourself in your work outfits because it’s really helping my closet. If anything, I’m really starting to see what actually looks good on me in an every day sort of way all because of posting pictures these work outfits.

Monday’s Work Outfit: 4/5

work outfitsOn Sunday night, I went to bed in a Seahawks tee and hat (to keep me warm). When I woke up at 3:45 am to watch the (epic) game I wanted to already be in my gear. After our (4 minutes to go) win, I felt such pride, I couldn’t help but wear Vincent’s #24 jersey–I mean Lynch was amazing in that game! Anyway, I gave myself a four on this day because it probably was a little insensitive of me (for all the Packers at school) to wear. But really, I couldn’t help myself! I was so proud!!
*More orange lippy just like last week’s Seahawk’s tee day, but this time I went with Ohh La La by Topshop.

#Gohawks! Get your Jersey!

Tuesday’s Work Outfit: 3/5

work outfitsI love everything about this outfit, but all day long I felt like I had chosen the wrong shoes. In the picture I am proven that I did indeed choose the wrong shoes. Because this pencil skirt drops below my knees I should have worn a) a pair of little kitten heel pumps or b) long black boots or even burgundy colored riding boots. That short little boot does nothing for the outfit. Everything else though from the new lace top my mother-in-law brought me to the fuzzy sweater with plaid and tons of glittery statement necklaces works–in my opinion! I’ll be on the quest to style my new sparkly boots better next week….
*I wore MAC Rebel on my lips to match the hint of purples found in skirt.

Mad for Plaid:

Wednesday’s Work Outfit: 2/5

work outfitsI used to love this skirt. It’s long and flowy like a pair of wide leg black trousers. But on this day, I was tripping all over it, and I felt so frumpy. The sweater I adore not just because it’s leopard but because of the story behind it. When my sister Julie surprised me for my 40th in Beijing, she left it behind for me. The thing is though, the sweater is done: it’s missing a button on the shoulder, it’s pilled, and I need to give it away. Now that the sentiments are out, I can get rid of it YET hopefully find another one. When I do, I’ll need to choose a better color as this one totally washes me out.
*I love light colored lips on others, but this NARS Catfight does nothing for me! Bummer because it’s such a cool color.

I need a new leopard sweater:

Thursday’s Work Outfit: 5/5

work outfitsAdmittedly, I felt pretty cool on this day–even if it didn’t picture well. I loved everything about this work outfit. For one, I would be going on an Indian field trip with my Interim group, so I wanted to dress the part. I love wearing a tunic over jeans–I could have gone with leggings, but I like how the ripped jeans toughened up this look a bit. Also, I can’t get enough of my fringed black boots. They make me feel perfectly boho. The gold necklaces I draped were also fun and different. For warmth I through on my Woo cream cashmere poncho that Kevin gave me while living in Beijing. (There’s a funny story for later!) After our excursion to Chung King Mansion, I knew I’d be out shopping for the day, and this outfit felt stylish while I jetted around town.
*For my lippy I went with the very berry neutral Destinée by Chanel.

Try out black fringe boots:

Friday’s Work Outfit: 5/5

FridayOne would think that by this stage of my menstruating life I’d get it down by now, but no! (Don’t read further if this topic embarrasses you!) Basically, I had a really cute cream and grey ensemble going on, but right when I arrived to school I had an unfortunate accident. Luckily I live close to school and was able to go home and change. I went with black. Safe!! Regardless this five minute outfit works for me–as all black usually does. We had a PD day, so it’s acceptable to dress in jeans for a work outfit. My jeans are special though: they’ve got silver snake printed on them. Since the jeans are a little showy, I opted for simple accents all in black, but I can tell ya. They’re fun to wear!
*Since my first outfit used a mauve pink, I just kept my lips the same in Mauve Otta Here by Wet n Wild.

S-s-s-snake jeans!

  1. Isn’t it amazing how we “see” our outfits differently in a photo than we do in the mirror, dear Ann?! Your idea to photograph your work ensembles each day is probably not just helping to purge your closet…I’ll bet it’s making the actual outfit combinations easier to pull together!! I’m a firm believer that personal style blogging makes us even better at something we already love doing: getting dressed up!! đŸ˜‰

I feel your pain at the “loss” of that fab leopard sweater…I also know that wearing something that’s stained or damaged is a surefire way to ruin a look for me. But now the hunt is on for an even more gorgeous replacement, right? And by the way, I LOVE the tartan skirt…and the statement necklace (wow!)…and that tunic…and the snake (snake!) print jeans!! XOXO

Now I’m wondering if I should keep it up into Feb; I’m thinking I will…. Hey, it’s Friday! Have a great weekend:D Looking forward to see what outfits you wear over the weekend. Love, Ann
