Over our spring break, we went to a magical place on earth: Yangshuo in China. All of a sudden as you enter into this region, these hills start popping up everywhere. Before you know it, you’re completely surrounded by these mini mountains–they are actually called karst formations although they make you feel like you are on a completely different planet or maybe the setting for The Hobbit! While we were there, we didn’t see the sun once, but that didn’t matter. The rain and mist and clouds added to the mystery of the place. Then, our hotel was the perfect Secret Garden: vined walls, painted poems, fountain pools, mini balconies, and intricate roofs. Plus green was everywhere! Even amongst the grey skies, mountains, and village walls, the greenery popped and was so very vibrant. We loved Yangshuo; we’re already considering how we can go back.
If you go again let us know we would love to join if we can sport it, timing in all…. Joncye Baby!
