Style Stories No. 24: Working From Home Outfits

Monday, 1/5 3/5

Whenever I encapsulate a week’s worth of my outfits, I always appreciate the process. Not only does it make me more thoughtful about each day’s outfit, but it also helps me determine what works and doesn’t work in my closet. For example, this super cute Target find is pretty darn cute. However, when I was shelving books on Monday, it was a good thing there was no one in the library. I don’t have to reach up very far for all my unders to be showing! Unfortunately, I arrived home, and promptly placed this cute shift in the give-away pile. Although, admittedly I am regretting that decision because I could have adopted my childhood trick for a short hem: shorts underneath. Oh well. *Update: the dress was still in the give-away pile, so I grabbed it! Next time I’ll just make sure to wear a pair of shorts underneath.

Tuesday, 5/5

On Wednesday, I talked all about my love for the shoulder pad tank trend. This style works splendidly for my slanting shoulders. When I saw that Zara has a shift version of the shoulder pad tank, I swiftly picked one up. I love it! It’s easy–as all LBDs are. I can dress it up or down.

I picked up this acid wash shirt dress at one of Hong Kong’s local thrift shops, Mee & Gee. It’s tricky to purchase at these shops as there’s no trying on the clothes. Well, I sometimes cheat and head upstairs to the attic like floor above. For this shirt dress, I did try it on over my clothes, so I knew it would fit. Luckily, up a few lbs, or down, it usually fits me. I paired it with my sparkly, winky eye, kids’ shoes from Target. Do you like my little cameo of Rico? He’s growing fast. Unfortunately, Rani didn’t make the frame of the pic. This dress, like Tuesday’s, can easily be dressed up or down. I usually tend to dress it down.

Thursday, 5/5

This is my house dress. I know it looks like a night gown–it kind of feels like one too! It is so comfortable. It’s not a favorite in my house, but I slip it on first thing when I get home. Little does my family know that when they say it reminds them of my sister, that this is the very best compliment! On Thursday, I simply wore it all day–along with my new blue light glasses. Have you heard that the house dress is the new form of sweats? I’m all for it. I may look like a nice ghost, but I’m loving this white house dress. To mix things up, I recently picked up a colorful version house dress. I can’t wait to alternate my days with two house dresses–however, another white one might be added soon!

Friday, 4/5

Here’s my sweatshirt version of a dress. It is really comfortable. My only issue is it is a little frumpy. But hey, sweatshirts are comfy, not glamorous! I tried dressing it up with touches of silver. I’m still in it as I’m writing this, and I’m still comfortable as ever. This one might also be a bit too short, but I won’t be hasty like I was with Monday’s dress. There’s always cut-offs to peek from underneath.

I hope you enjoyed this roundup. I enjoy writing them. Working from home pretty much all week was lovely. I have to say, I got a ton done working from home. In fact, I just breathed life into my other blog: Dear Librarian. Do check it out if you enjoy reading book blogs.

While these outfits were working from home, next week’s outfits will be for school. I have to admit: I will miss working from home. I finally found my groove!
