Style Story: Work Outfits Monday Through Friday

I’m going to give this sort of post a try. We’ll see what you all think. Basically, these were my work outfits Monday through Friday. Once I got to work, I took a pic of what I was wearing. Many of my outfit posts on this blog have been styled outfits that are not always practical. (Like would I really make it out in these heels?!) Therefore, I thought it would be interesting to showcase my actual work outfits while explaining a bit of their style story. I indeed wore each of these work outfits Monday through Friday of this week. Some of them I like, and well….some of them will help me with my closet goals for 2015! I’ve given each a rating out of 5 with 5 being the highest. No 5/5s this week….

Monday: Score 3/5

Work OutfitsThis was the first day back from vacation, so I wanted to be comfy, and these pants are like pajamas. In looking at the picture, I wonder if they look too much like pajamas. All the jewellery I love: the earrings are new gold hoops from Kevin, and I also have my gold Ganesh necklace on with a stack of others including my rose gold eye. The longest necklace I just scooped up at the Zara sale–I love it when I hit the Zara sale just right! The boots I picked up at a swap. I know they’re tired, but I just adore the color. The sweater’s just a basic cashmere V-neck from Ann Taylor. Hmmm, while I was comfortable, I do think I look sloppy, but I guess that’s what I was after.
*Lipstick is also important; I wore Trigger by Topshop.

From this outfit, I recommend these items:

Tuesday: Score 2/5

Work OutfitsI almost gave myself a two here but I like to many of the items too much! I love the sweatshirt: it has shoulder pads and studs! Yet, it does not go with the skirt. I also love the skirt; it’s so special being picked up from a market in Sapa, Vietnam. I just haven’t styled this outfit well. The necklace is pure bling–I picked it up at Zara at the same time as the necklace from Monday. The boots are nice and rocker, but again, they don’t match the skirt. I need to try again with all of these pieces but not together. That’s it: I’m giving myself a 2.
*Lipstick is also an accessory; I wore #06, Pink Pong Rouge Velvet by Bourjois. This lippy is seriously amazing in color and tecture that I picked up recently on my trip to Bali–of all places!

From this outfit, I recommend getting a tribal skirt!

Wednesday: Score 3/5

Work StyleI think this outfit actually looks nice together, but I didn’t feel confident in it like I did the day before. (Hmmm, that confidence factor should count for something. Maybe I’ll switch yesterday back to a 3.) I adore this sweater because of the story behind it. My sister has a girls’ night every Thursday night in Spokane. I happened to attend one when all the girls were having a swap at Jill’s gorgeous home. Well, I was like, “Wait! Julie! I get first dibs on anything of yours.” And I did nabbing this beautiful bright orange sweater. Yet, there’s a hole up by the shoulder and it’s just gotten too much wear. The sleeves are awfully long and overly flowing on me. I need to let go of the sweater yet keep the story.
*For my lips I went with my best orange: Purty Persimmon by Wet ‘n Wild.

After wearing this outfit, I’m on the lookout for a new orange sweater:

Thursday: Score 2/5

Work OutfitsAll week I was trying to wear this sweater. I’m not kidding. I tried on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Finally it matched ok with this skirt for Thursday. Although, the skirt is done. It’s lost it’s pencil shape and doesn’t go into an A-line either. I’ve been wondering about this skirt for some time now. I’ll put it in the give away pile tomorrow. The sweater was a gift from both of my sisters. On one winter trip home, they knew I’d be freezing and handed this to me right off the plane. It had come with a broach which is long gone now. It’s pilled, but it’s staying. I mean the color! It’s my fave!!
*I went with a reader recommendation with my lips and wore Up the Amp by MAC. Thanks Christy!

From this outfit, I recommend owning a teal blue sweater:

Work Outfits
Out of the entire week, I like this outfit the best, but it still kind of cracks me up. I felt all simple in jeans, a knobby, cream fisherman sweater, and simple yet fringed boots. As I was getting dressed, I loved how it made me feel like my sister Julie might wear this. It’s common fact that I try to emulate her style. Yet, just as I was walking out the door, I added the scarf! I couldn’t resist incorporating a touch of color. In the photo, the I see that the colors don’t even really match. But, that’s ok. It’s adding a touch of warmth and comfort to my body temp. I’m so excited about these jeans though! I just got them from the above mentioned Zara sale, and it has been forever–like 2009 since–that I bought a new pair of regular old blue jeans. I know skinny jeans might be on their way out, but oh well. I really like this dark, high waisted pair with just the right amount of stretch.
*This lippy is Standout by Revlon’s Colorburst line.

From this outfit I recommend it all–even the silk scarf!
