The Fab 40s in Fringe

Fringe 1
The Fab 40s are now into their 7th month. It feels like we just styled menswear just the other day! Now when it’s each of our turns, not only do we decide the theme to style, but we also get to invite a fellow 40 something blogger. With my turn this month, I was inspired by my friend and colleague Norbyah of I’m a Norbyah. Following her on Instagram, I saw a cool DIY project she created during the summer vacation months. She made her very own fringe bag! I admit it: I’m an easy-does-it DIYer. Her bag, that involved cutting the leather to create the fringe–well, it definitely impressed me. And it gave me both the theme and perfect person to invite to this month’s Fab 40’s post. Norbyah, as featured in a Style Story last week, is the Queen of Vintage. You’ll notice from her outfit details that all her clothing items are of high quality yet also recycled. I work with Norbyah, and I can admit it’s really fun to see what she’s wearing each day. Her remixes and revivals of repurposed clothing are inspirational. Welcome Norbyah!

    1. Hi Dawn Lucy, thank you. 😀 Usually my daugther (she’s 12!) takes my pictures. She’s my preferred photographer. But for this one it was my husband. I do adore him, but he’s just not as patient as my dear Gigi. I think both my son and him get embarrassed to be taking these photos–in public. I’m lucky that I live in such a lovely spot–on the water in a little village in Hong Kong called Stanley. We have photo ops everywhere we look!

The vest is worth every penny–Forever 21 so totally economical. Get it!

  1. A fun bloggers feast this is again. Even though I am not into fringe. Probably because I was already around in the seventies and eighties when fringe was also big. I have had my fair share. You all look the part though.

  2. Damn, woman, you always find the dreamiest of locations for photo shoots 🙂 and Gigi does such a brilliant job. Props and camera girl aside, it’s really interesting to note that while you and I both did the same fringe bits, the overall looks are SO different. I love yours!!! It could so easily have turned into something from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly but instead you created the softest, most magical bohemian look ever. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

    1. Oh gosh Sheela! You’re right–fringe boots and a fringe vest! I cannot even imagine wearing your heels. I would surely topple over! Seriously. I do love them though and really like the long black vest you’re wearing. I need one of those too!

Kevin actually took these pics. I prefer it when Gigi does, but Kevin offered to take them for this post. Also, Stanley, the neighborhood I live in, is just charming. It’s really easy to find setting for shoots here. Ya, I’m lucky!

Thanks for starting this collab Sheela. It’s such fun!! A x
