I love to dress up! Seriously!! Getting dressed up is usually ten times better than the actual event I’m dressing for. The preplanning before any event is the best. Deciding upon just the right pair of earrings, the clutch to use, how to do my makeup, well I love everything about formal holiday wear. Yet, here I am still wearing tennis shoes on a daily basis. The one day last week when I tried to wear booties my physical therapist gave me a talking to. And now it’s November 30 and tomorrow officially starts the most formal holiday wearing month of the year: December! I love getting dressed up for ALL Christmas celebrations–sometimes I actually dress too formal like at last year’s work party when all anyone said to me was, “Wow! What a top!” (It was all sequins–similar to the fabulous piece in this post but tighter with a halter type neck and sleeveless. It was from Venezuela so you may get the idea….) When Dixie, one of The Fab 40s, declared this Fab 40 post for November as formal holiday wear, I experienced a pitter patter in my heart! But then…reality snuck in. I’m not going to be able to wear the heals that accompany the glamour of formal holiday wear. BUT, I will try (despearately) not to let this stop me….! I have some ideas up my sleeve.
Before you scroll down to my last picture that depicts the reality of my situation, take a look at all these glammed up options. Dixie invited Natasha from One Woman’s Style to join us this month. Natasha like me has trouble with heals right now, but her options looks ever so classy. Everyone of this fab group looks absolutely spectacular. Although if I were to pick favorites with heal envy accompanied with all around sparkle love, it has to go to Dixie. Check out her sparkles–all over!! And the heals are Loubitins! I can only dream…Also, I do have to say, Jane knocked this look out of the park–so effortlessly glam with an adorable pooch to boot!

And now for my take… I picked up this wonderful top last year after all the season’s hoopla. I love it! It’s boxy and comfortable, and I have since gotten rid of my other seasonal holiday top now that I have this one. Because in reality I know I won’t actually be able to do nothing more than stand (and fake walk) in these glorious heals, I paired the OTT top with satin joggers. Ultimately I know that I’ll be wearing my joggers with the whole ensemble so I’m sticking to me two and one rule. If I’m going to wear sneakers, one other item needs to be dressed down–in this case I chose the pants. The sneakers are hidden in the silver duffle bag!
Thank you so much for taking these pictures Norbyah!
What do you think? Do they work? Can I pull off my sport shoes with this look?

Ann….I am going to be honest here…
I prefer your sparkles and satin trousers, with your New Balance Gutties!
So there!
You look much for fun, dressed like that.
I am all about the dancing, and a girl in glitter and gutties is someone I want to be out dancing with!
A great (fun) look.

I think you’re capable of floating in mid air so why not sneakers with sequins?
Sheela! You’re right!! I need to get some bedazzled ones. What have I been thinking?! I’m on the hunt now. I have also been thinking about gold… 😀 A x
PS Thanks for getting The Fab 40s started!! ;D
Ann you look so fab in this look! Seriously! I love you in colorful sequins!
Thanks for your sweet sweet note!
Oh Johanna! I’m glad you liked it! I think we have a love of sparkly things in common! ;D Love, Ann
You look absolutely fabulous. The sequin top and shoes are oh, so stunning. Need I say, you’re a girl after my own heart with all that jazz you’re giving. Ha, I love how you did the switch-a-roo with the sneakers. It brings it down a few notches to to a read to tear up the dance floor kinda way….xo
Exactly! Same to you Dixie. I want ALL of what you have going on!! Love, Ann
