Summer time is coming to an end. My sister has started a new saying though: instead of “All good things must come to an end,” she declares, “All good things are wonderful.” And this summer has been just that–WONDERFUL!
We started in Seattle and did our usual things like visiting Pike Place and going to a Mariners’ game. (I just found out we get to go to another game on August 3rd!)
We had a semi cold week and a half to open up our lake cabin on Spirit Lake where we had fires going all day long in the fireplace. I was pretty much in my flannel shirts and Levi jeans during that time.
We visited Vincent at his baseball camp with my in-laws down in Santa Barbara. It was such fun; I really like visiting California for a bit during our summer holiday. That’s where these pics were taken. This was the outfit I wore to travel down. I think I finally found a kimono I like. It’s muted and soft yet the colors are bright like my style. The shirt was purchased for Gigi who did not want it, so I took the size small tee, soaked it in water, and stretched the heck out of it. I think it fits just fine! (I looked, but unfortunately it’s not available anymore.) The shoes are a must–I am currently trying to find a second pair. They’re called the Nike Mayfly in Sail. Finally, our hotel was super. I highly recommend where we stayed down in Santa Barbara: the Inn by the Harbor. We had a two bedroom apartment that was bigger than our home in Hong Kong!
Now we’ve been enjoying our time out at Spirit Lake. My sister rented the cabin next door for two weeks, so the fun has been unimaginable. In fact, this may just be our best summer yet! The cousins played and played, and Julie and I were able to talk, talk, talk! All of us had such an amazing time. I hope they rent right next to us next summer as well….because “Too much of a good thing is wonderful!” There!! That’s the saying!
Aside from my sister renting the cabin next door, my in-laws were able to visit a couple of times and my own folks a few as well. My other sister came over with her husband and 6 month old baby, so we all were in baby bliss! One of my brothers was also able to make it out with his wife and two babes–yes! More baby bliss!! So, see, our summer time has truly been wonderful.
And, yes, it is coming to an end as it naturally should. Kevin left for Hong Kong yesterday–actually on our 21st anniversary. But that’s ok. Vincent’s friend Nick arrived at the same time. The four of us, Gigi, Vincent, Nick and myself have until Monday, and then we’ll start our trek over to Seattle. So while summer isn’t quite over yet, it is definitely starting to dwindle down.
How about you?
How has your summer time been!?
