Style Stories Link Up No. 6 and My Paisley Pants

Paisley Pants 1

The Kremb de la Kremb Style Stories Link Up is back this week, and for my own style story I’m sharing the story of these crazy paisley pants! I’ve had this pair of paisley pants since Vincent was born–that means they’re 14 years old! Sometimes I’ve thought about getting rid of them, but then, they’ve been through so much history: I cannot. These pants were purchased on Margarita Island in Venezuela. It’s a duty free spot, so we’d head over there on the weekends for sun, surf, and shopping! These pants are on the smaller side for me, so they always serve as a good measurement; if I fit in them, I’m in ok shape. (They’re a tad bit tight here–time to get to work!) I wear these pants without fail for each Thanksgiving. They’re my Thanksgiving pants; since it’s November, they’ve been pulled out. In fact, around the purchase of these pants, we had one lucky Thanksgiving where we were able to spend it in Savannah, Georgia with the entire Freuen clan. Also I associate these paisley pants with my wonderful family and friends I have in Mumbai, India. I wore these nostalgic trousers during a weekend of coping with the horror of the Mumbai terrorist attacks up in Lonavla–while this was a tragic experience the closeness of those special to me is held close in my heart. With so many memories attached to the wild pants, it’s no shock that I pull them out each and every year!

  1. Hi Ann, I lurve, lurve, lurve paisley as you know, so these are a very big hit with me. (Just my colour too, in case you want to rent them out between Thanksgivings…) The little hip bag is very sweet too. Have a great weekend and enjoy a wonderful gathering over Thanksgiving.

    1. Anna, gosh, you’re giving me a really good idea. Rather than have a give away type swap, what about having actual swaps where covetable items in one’s wardrobe were shared. I wonder if this is happening online anywhere….I know I do it with my sisters, but I haven’t tried it with friends. It makes for a great idea doesn’t it!? A x

      1. Hi Ann, that’s funny as I contacted Samantha a few months ago about a little jacket of hers and suggested we swap things and see how each other style them up differently. It might be a bit long winded between Hong Kong and the UK, but could be something to orchestrate through your blog anyway. (As you know Melanie from Bag and a Beret sends her yellow skirt all around the world) Also the idea that it’s not like giving away your treasured trousers, just a short term loan seems a lovely idea and not too scary!
And about the Revlon query. We have one chemist on the island, it’s tiny, and only stocks Rimmel and Barry M make-up. Have you got a new lippy colour for me? I took some photos yesterday and have a my new brighter lippy on there which you’ll see on Wednesday. Thanks so much for the link up xx

        1. I’ll investigate shipping to the UK Anna. Although, I think you’d be swimming in these trousers!

Now that I know you have Rimmel and Barry M, I’ll suggest some colors. I sent you the links on Facebook to see if they carried the two lines in the brand that I think would work for you. I love recommending lipstick–call me a lippy pusher! I just believe that it really helps a woman’s eyes pop. It totally brightens her eyes right up.

I’ll go check out your post;D Love, Ann

  2. Still years left in those pants Anne, to precious and many memories attatched, plus you look great in them
    Thanks for hosting

    1. Thank you Laurie! Unfortunately since they are a bit tight, I know for sure I won’t be able to wear them during the actual Turkey Day meal–I have another, looser pair for that. Stay tuned! A x

  3. Awesome trousers Ann! Isn’t it lovely when old favourites such as these have memories almost sewn into their fabric over time. We remember events – happy and those tinged with sadness too sometimes – when we wore them and somehow memories become sharper because of that.
I too have trousers that are indicators of whether the waistline is increasing or decreasing – much better than scales – ha, ha!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

  4. Ann those trousers are flippin amazing! How DO you pull them off – I’d look a right dingbat in them…!! I love how you’re kept them for not just style reasons but also sentimental reasons: Here’s to many more years’ wear from them for you!

This week I’ve linked up my post about my signature “preppy with a twist” style: Always good torevisit it now and then!

Hope you have a great week, thank you so much for hosting! See you tomorrow for #iwillwearwhatilike (bold pattern this week – I think the trousers count for sure!!)

    1. I hate it when I’ve gotten rid of something and then regretted it. It so tricky isn’t it? I’ve almost said goodbye to these ones, but now I think I never will! Could you get them back somehow? That’s happened to me too!! A x

  5. You got the groove on with those pants Ann. Love the leopard-sleeve sweatshirt and that awesome belt bag. Enjoy your new week! <3 Ada.

  6. Hmmm, that’s a good idea Jodie. Yellow is so tricky for me though. I think I’d have better luck going with orange. I do love the color yellow, but it’s a hard one for me to wear. Unfortunately, the one good yellow top I owned I finely parted with. It too had a ton of memories, but hopefully one of these days I can find a replacement. Note to self: don’t part until said item has been replaced!

Thank you for linking up Jodie. Love, Ann

  7. How did I not know about your linkup, Ann?! Just discovered it now while commenting on another blogger’s post. Oh well, better late than never 😉

Anyway, can we talk about those pants?!!! Love them! I actually almost bought a darker paisley pair last week while browsing Zara’s site ( a fuller cut but the same idea). Love yours and especially the way you’ve styled them! So unique. You look fab! Have a blessed and happy holiday! xox-M
