The Spring Wardrobe Switch

Last week during my respite at home, with the help of Lucile, our housekeeper, I made the spring wardrobe switch. Two to four times a year I swap out clothes, and it’s really quite fun: basically it’s like getting a whole new wardrobe. Like this dress for example–I got it at the end of the summer during one of my final visits to Target before leaving back to Hong Kong. I hadn’t really worn it yet. Now, I wore it Saturday and Monday. I especially love pairing this dress with my cutoff denim jacket (DIY by me of course!).

So here’s my new do. I figured since I always pose this way–my left side facing the camera–I could try to use my hair. We’ll see… Haha. To be honest, with the amount of humidity going on in Hong Kong with rain every single day, the curls make both sides just about even!

I’d like to tell a little story about this very old, but also super cute red leather bag. It’s actually from Hong Kong! While we were living in India, Kevin’s brother Cork was living here. We stopped over during a Christmas break to see him on the long way back home to Seattle. We went to this amazing mall called Pacific Place–one of my regular haunts today! (Coming to Hong Kong from Mumbai will add starry eyes to anyone.) Before going out to dinner, we hopped into a Mango. They happened to be having one of those incredible end of season sales. Anyway, I saw this red saddle bag and thought of it all during dinner. I had to go back and get it. A fashion fixation was set.

When I went back to get the stunning saddle bag after dining, it was already gone. I’ve been learning my lesson to purchase on the spot–or maybe not… On Christmas day while the Krembs family was exchanging gifts, Corky gave this bag to me! Little did I know he had stepped out during dinner and ran over to get it. I was so surprised and so thrilled. I can remember tearing up. This bag is about 15 years old, and I’ve thought many times that perhaps it’s too raggedy and time to give away. But then, I think of the story behind it, and I just can’t. It’s too sweet a bag, and I love it!

Have you made your spring wardrobe switch? Stay tuned for likelihood of more dresses!
