I’m at a loss for what to write about over here on Kremb de la Kremb. I feel like my creativity is being zapped. Aside from wearing loungewear that isn’t worthy of styling, I have things I want to say, but don’t know how to start…That’s where I’m at. So, since I’m at a loss, I’ll share spring break 2020 highlights and a wonderful family walk we went on up at the Peak, one of Hong Kong’s highest mountains.
Spring break 2020 was the quietest spring break we’ve had in quite some time. We are used to traveling during this time of year, but with all travel currently suspended, we had ourselves a quaint little staycation. Activities included family walks, baking, puzzle-solving, coloring, and watching trashy tv.
As I stated in this post, my two children are getting along better than ever. It’s one of the greatest silver linings of this whole pandemic. True to form, they were great buddies during the staycation that was spring break 2020. Seeing their friendship reignite has and will always be my highlight of Covid-19.
This kid. Wow. Can you tell how happily impressed Kevin and I are? This May Vincent will turn 18. He’s head to University of Puget Sound next year to play baseball–and study of course, but in exactly that order. I’m not sure how/when/how we’ll get him there, but I will say all the extra time with him feels like an extra little gift. Granted he may beg to differ… I do deeply feel bad for all graduating individuals out there whether it’s college, high school, heck even 8th grade. They’ve all been robbed of some highlights in one’s life. As stated in this article, “This is the year without graduation.”
Meanwhile we have our clown to cheer us up. Gigi continues to be quite the prankster. This is my favorite trick that she’s been up to lately: each night Kevin places a glass of water by my bedside and two glasses by his. Immediately after this act, Gigi will drink down his two glasses of water–claiming innocent of course. It’s pretty hilarious, and no, it doesn’t get old. Her other old hat trick: take a selfie of herself whenever you ask her to take your own picture. That’s a given! Luckily on this family walk I finally got a picture of her smiling!
Finally, my best friend, Kevin, with his crinkly, smiley eyes who I fell in love so many years ago–when I make him laugh with his eyes, I feel so good. The times are stressful to be sure, yet it’s the smiles and chuckles of good humor that keep us sane right now. Our staycation during spring break 2020 was so different from any we’ve ever had. We are spoiled with travel, but we found ourselves content with the slowness of this time off from virtual school and working without students.
I’ll finish with some four multi leafed clovers. (We, the entire world, need some luck on our side!) The lushness season of Hong Kong is upon us after lots of rain, with even more to come. But soon, the flip will switch, and we’ll skip spring and head straight into summer. I’m looking forward to some potential beach days ahead. If by chance we don’t get to travel for a while, I feel lucky to have all the beauty that Hong Kong offers with trails, beaches, and plenty of parks.
PS I do apologize for no consistency with my posting schedule at present. I’ll get there, eventually. For now, like everyone else, I’m trying to take it one day at a time.
