Cabin Candids—Spirit Lake Summer 2018

It’s Monday, August 6, and I leave for back for Hong Kong in a couple of hours. With two hours left of summer, I wanted to get these Spirit Lake summer candids posted. It was great summer. They always are. Especially when we get family time out at Spirit Lake. With my sister renting the cabin next door, summer 2018 was an especially good time–almost too good!

This is my niecie Maevers–Maeve actually. She’s such fun. We are little DIY spirit companions. She’s especially in-tuned to style, so it’s exciting for me to see in which direction her style story will go….

My other sister and her husband with their adorable little babe were able to come over for a weekend. It was meant to be a whole Freuen family reunion with all five siblings, but when it turned into just the sisters we were not at all upset. Sometimes just the sissies is a very special time. Plus these two hubbies got a chance to really connect!

Meanwhile all the older cousins got to topple one another! The youngest (of the older cousins) is on the bottom–as it should be right?!

I’d like to say that Gigi is my mini me, but it reality she is more of Kevin’s. These two….well they are two peas in a pod. Anything Kevin did, Gigi was right beside him lending a helping hand. It’s quite precious actually. She’ll be reunited with her father this coming Saturday…I think she’s missing her other pea.

When I saw these two young ladies reading out on the patio, I had to snap a pic. I’m so passionate about books; I was book talking all summer long. I guess you could say my job as a high school librarian doesn’t stop with the school year. Need a book recommendation? Just ask!! But be forewarned–I can book talk your ear off!!

Baby time! Watching the older cousins with the younger cousins is truly something special. Thomas is especially good with the babies.

I’d like to introduce the new Gerber Baby. This kid! Oh, he’s pretty special. I’m so proud of my sister and her new little family.

Then there’s my brothers young one. He’s such a cutie! He’s an observer–which I love because I end up watching him watching all of the scene. This little guy is very, very sweet.

First swims in Spirit Lake are pretty special!! Both my kids were baptized in this lake; the pictures of both my kids’ baptism looks a little something like this. It was precious to watch daddy and baby taking a first dip.

Here I am insisting a reading hour! This book is really good though, and I wanted my parents to read it. Seriously, this book is GOLDEN, and I want to say everyone should have a copy to read every now and then!

My Goddaughter and Lou! I am very proud of this young lady. She recently got into architecture school, she’s off to Europe for a month shortly, and she’s just one of my favorite people in the world–just as my own Godmother is for me. I hope I am doing a good job for her as her Auntie Annie.

It’s special when other mothers become a part of my family. This is my own mom on the left with my sister’s mother-in-law on the right. We traveled for a week with Carol over Christmas; that week solidified her place in my family’s heart.

These two young ladies! Oh, I remember lake time with my own cousin Kelly. I hope their memories are as strong as mine as a young woman. It’s hard; we live away for 10 months of the year, so we only get fleeting moments with family. I hope the saying of quality over quantity plays its part with these two. Seeing them play together is pretty special!

Then there are those brotherhoods that happen through friendship. This young fellow doesn’t go to school with Vincent anymore, but their bond is still quite strong. Nick came to visit us for a week again this summer. I hope he returns next summer too–and I promise NOT to take him tubing!

And a candid of me, Captain Annie! With Kevin gone since the 25th, I really do feel like the captain–the captain lost at sea actually. I can’t wait to be reunited with my other half. It will be odd to return without the kids, but perhaps as they are growing so quickly it’s good training for my future. Plus the kids are going to have an amazing time with Kevin’s folks: Babaji and Grammy!

How was your summer!?

PS With summer over, I might be able to return to a regular posting schedule…. ;D
