I’ll be so busy this week that I won’t be able to post my newly returned Style Stories at the end of this week. (I leave on Wednesday afternoon for Shanghai to watch my son play baseball. I’m really excited, but it’s definitely bitter sweet. This will be the last time Vincent plays with his high school team.) On Sunday, I took one item—my snake blazer, and I styled it for morning, afternoon, and night.
The snake blazer, rhinestone earrings, and black cami all remain the same for each of these posts, yet everything from the bottom on changes. That means for each time (morning, afternoon, and night) the pants, belt, shoes, and bag are different. It’s interesting to see how different the snake blazer looks just by swapping out different items from the belt downward.
For a morning trip to market, I went with some comfy trusties: my 501 Levi’s and a pair of black clogs. I’m hoping for my studded belt to match the silver studs on my clogs. For someone with a hip replacement, surprisingly these clogs work for me; I can wear them all day long at work and be just fine. It must be that there’s enough padding before the wood platform.
I have mixed feeling about my Fauxyard–that’s the nickname given to all the fake Goyard tote bags carried around both Hong Kong and China. On the one hand it’s fun to pretend, and in all actuality these bags make for super great grocery totes. On the other, it’s counterfeit, which I know is not right, and when I use it, I actually feel like I’m lying. So, in the end, even though it’s a great bag, I shouldn’t actually use it. Just because there’s an insane amount and variety of this bags at all the markets in Hong Kong, doesn’t make it right. I guess I have my answer don’t I…. would you use a faux brand?
It’s kind of like SPAM–which I’ve never actually been able to taste before. It’s too fake, right? Not tasting like real meat although I don’t know. Maybe I should try SPAM before ever thinking to use this bag again. Ick. I don’t think I can stomach it, so the bag will have to go. Have you tried SPAM before? It’s popular here because of the Filipino population.
