Now that my favorite store, Forever 21 41, is all the way over in Mong Kok, sometimes (Ok! All the time!!) I’ll browse Forever 21 online. The sales are usually insane, I’m usually a size large, and I’ll usually put in an order that barely reaches $100 USD but is a cart chockablocked full of goodies. On one such case, this very, very short yellow dress arrived. It was a final sale, so therefore could not be returned. It was supposed to be a dress–at least it was on the lithe model, but by the time it passed my voluptuous curves, the dress was more like a tunic shirt! So… what to do? Well, I pull out the oldest trick in the book, the one I used to use as a school girl in my parochial school uniform: I wear shorts under a short dress!
I can remember all of us girls playing on the playground during our recesses while growing up. The monkey bars were drawing us in to attempt penny drops for the high bar. Could you do a penny drop? Remember how scary it was? In the end I could do a penny drop, but it meant showing what was under my skirt when gravity took over. Hence, simply wear shorts under a short dress became the other trick! It worked then, and it works now. Although, sadly, I am no longer able to attempt a penny drop.
