Wearing Holiday Sequins with Sneakers

We are getting closer and closer to Christmas! It’s pretty much my favorite time of year. I go a little kooky for Christmas. Of course, no holiday in my opinion should go by without a little sequins, but since I’m known to overdo things I tried to tame myself with these two sequins stylings. But, don’t worry; I’m wearing holiday sequins with sneakers. That’s a given. For me, sneakers can be paired with a little glam.

With this first look I took my coppery bronze sequin blazer and paired it with a (p)leather skirt. (Unfortunately, this skirt is now in the garbage as the Hong Kong humidity caused it to deteriorate. This happens to our leathery goods quite often in HK. Check out its first styling back in 2014, Caped and Covered. (Oh my, I dug around and found a spooky post from 2013! Yes, it was time to get ride of that skirt. No wonder it was done.) To add just a touch of my own personal neutral, I added a leopard tee. Then, since it’s all about wearing holiday sequins with sneakers, I added a basic and classic staple: my black and white Chuck Taylors.

This outfit to me is comfortable and a little chic at the same time. The jacket is definitely OTT (over-the-top) but paired neutrally, it’s hopefully a little less glam and more spunky–especially with my Converse thrown in. I added my little metal box pendant that rather looks like a gift–’tis the season after all.

Now here’s another rather natural take on sequins; I chose to pair a blush nude mini with my new cozy grey cashmere sweater from Silver Pink. (I first styled this delicious jumper–as its called in the UK, here a couple of weeks ago.) The obvious choice of sneakers were my silver pair from Zara Girls. To add just a bit of color I chose my beaded bucket bag.

I have to say I’m very proud of this muted look; I mean it is so unlike me. And to tell the truth, I probably wouldn’t wear this to a holiday gathering. It’s not colorful enough for me. But, for some I’m trying to demonstrate that sequins doesn’t have to mean over-the-top glam; it can be subtle, cozy. It can be a comfortably chic outfit for the holidays.

If you were to buy yourself a present this Christmas, may I please suggest this grey, cowl neck, cashmere sweater from Silver Pink. It comes in a beautiful denim blue and a stunning winter white. It is so cozy. I wear it right when I get home. No joke. It’s like wearing a blanket, and with our windows open in Hong Kong these days, I’ve need the warmth. Believe it or not, it’s been chilly in HK. I love it, and I especially love sleeping at night without AC and instead an open balcony door. Bliss. Pure bliss! Soon, by Jan and Feb, I’ll be sleeping in this sweaterh–that’s how cold it will get.

I’m so into frosty metallic lips these days. Somewhere I read that the trend of metallic lips is over, but not for me. I love all these frosty colors, and I’m continually on the search for the perfect one. See, I bought this great metallic color from H&M called “Roaring Twenties,” but I accidentally smooshed it. Since then, I bring it with me everywhere seeing if I can find its dupe. So far, I haven’t, but I’ll keep looking….

Do you need more samples of sequins with sneakers? Oh good. I have them:
*Plaid with the same pale mini
*Multi-colored sequin top with a velvet suit
*Sequin Striped Mini–just choose a holiday tee instead
*The same striped mini paired with navy chenille

Would you wear sequins with sneakers?
