Recipe: Russian Tea Cakes

This is a recipe from late Grandma Soogie, so you can be assured they are divine!  The best part: they are so easy!!

Sift together

  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Cream

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Mix the dry ingredients with the butter mixute.  Add 3/4 cup (or a little more) finely chopped hazelnuts or pecans.

With the oven at 400, form 1 inch balls and place them 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake for 15 minutes.

Right before they are cool, roll the cookie balls in powdered sugar.  Let them cool.  Serve immediately or store for the holiday season.

See, I told you they were easy!  And oh, so delicious!!
