Road Trip to Baños

Aww! We are traveling again!! It feels so good–I mean that’s why we do what we do for almost 25 years now. We became international teachers back in 1997 and have stayed with this career for many reason, but one of them is travel. With flights not really being a feasible way to travel these days, it’s so nice to hop in our car and take a simple road trip. Over the past three day weekend we drove about three hours to a place called Baños. Baños is known for its thermal hot springs. We stayed at the most beautiful hotel called Samari Spa. Our room had a fireplace–always a plus for a stay in Ecuador. It’s colder than you think here because it’s so high up.

It was so fun as you are about to see from our pictures…

The mountains are vast and steep and filled with agriculture. I was amazed at how the farmers in this region make it happen, but they do. The steep mountainsides are patched with all types of agriculture making the most beautiful green quilts.

One the first places we visited was called Casa del Arbol–which translates to treehouse. Aside from a cute tree house there were these huge swings, and oh boy, my legs were shaking after the ride!

The flowers were incredible, and this bushel of daisies was just too perfect. Daisies are my favorite flower after all, and it has been ages since I’ve seen them growing wild.

This was my designated spot for an AnnieMal #ootd pic!

Our car, named Lina because for the first few weeks she smelled like Gasolina, is a 2007 Toyota Prado, and she is ultimately the perfect car truck for a road trip! We’re even able to take unknown steep dirt roads to poke around the mountains.

This last shot was taken at this cute B&B that I hope to stay in when we return to Baños. Miramelindo–which translates to “look at me beautiful”–was the cutest hotel with fun and colorful paintings throughout. I’d like to stay in their honeymoon suite!

For our next road trip we are thinking of going to Cotopaxi… stay tuned!
