Restyled White Shirt, A Book and an Outfit, and I Love Hong Kong: Big Wave Bay

I couldn’t decide which series to categorize this post. On the one hand lately for Wednesdays, I’ve been taking an item from the previous Wednesday post and restyling it. Two weeks ago on Wednesday I had restyled the plaid pants from three weeks ago which was a restyle of this Jaws sweatshirt. Now this post has taken the basic white shirt I wore from that post, but this is hardly a restyling as I’m simply wearing my beach uniform: jean shorts and a white top.

I could also categorize this post under a book and an outfit–a series I haven’t posted in quite some time. Yet, here is a beautiful book that I brought to the beach that I’ll be recommending to many. Circe was a wonderful book that I have a hard time describing. I’ll summarize it by saying that Madeline Miller humanized Greek mythology for me. This retelling of the witch Circe was so lyrical yet so understandable; I was never intimidated at all. Rather I thoroughly enjoyed the magic of this novel.

Finally, I series I adore is my I Love Hong Kong. I mean…I really, really do love it here, probably too profusely so. I could veer on annoying with my love for Hong Kong, but oh well. It’s better to be happy enjoying one’s environment than not, and I really do love the experiences we are able to have in Hong Kong, including trips to Big Wave Bay. No, I did not go into the water, nor did the girls, but Kevin did! He’ll go any time. Always.

The weather was a mixture of cold and hot causing the frequent removal and addition of layers. That’s a Hong Kong winter though–always changing its mind. Unfortunately it’s been a rather mild winter. We’re still waiting for the degrees to drop; now however it seems like we won’t get those colder temps. My Covered Perfectly cardigan offered me the perfect layer on the beach.

I’d like to say we are all having the best time with Maeve, but I think Gigi might be. I haven’t heard Gigi giggle in this way for some time. Hearing these two young ladies together makes my heart swoon. I’m remembering time with my own little sisters; I’m also remembering the closeness I shared with my cousin Kelly at this age. Sisterhood and cousinship are so special, and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity Gigi is receiving for her time with Maeve.

I have a feeling we will begin heading to the beach more often. This time of year is when the beach season begins. I didn’t go as often last spring for some reason, but I’ve told Kevin I’d join him more this year. With three beaches within walking distance of our home, it’s silly of me not to enjoy this luxury. Plus, we’ll be taking Maeve again–she needs to swim in the HK waters!

We were quite busy all last week. From trips to the beach, city, and sites like the Big Buddha, I wasn’t able to get any posts in. I promise to return to my regular scheduling of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I also have some new series ideas, so stay tuned…

Here’s to the hump of winter maybe coming to an end–at least for us over here in Hong Kong.
