This is my very first post from Quito, Ecuador! I thought it would be fitting to shoot from our terrace that looks out to three majestic mountains–on a clear day. Clear day? That doesn’t happen so much! The weather here is intense, ever changing, and very, very cold! Puffer coats are going to be my new obsession.
With one look upwards, I’ve seen black clouds shooting lightning next to a bright blue sky. As I write this, I can see that all the puffy clouds seen in these pictures are now moving out of the way to showcase Cotopaxi. Just yesterday, Tuesday, there was an insane rain storm that turned to hail right as dismissal was taking place. To top off these weather stories for some reason the library is one of the coldest places in the school. I already use a space heater underneath my desk!
Don’t get me wrong: both the weather and Quito are both extremely beautiful. I am loving every minute of this new experience (minus the harsh cold I have that won’t go away!). I will say though that I will be collecting long johns, cashmere sweaters, ponchos, and puffer coats all along the way. For example, the puffer coat here I recently purchased at Forever 21 (YAY to that store being here!), and the boots are a recent purchase from Zara. The red sweater was a total score from Goodwill–it’s a Targé item that simply had a strike through the tag, so I know it’s brand new at the remarkable price tag of $5. That’s a score! And yes, I’m wearing Heat Technology underneath!
Maybe one of these days I’ll take more photos from my home terrace but with Cotopaxi out. She is majestic!! Until then anticipate more layers.
