I finally found the perfect midi dress! Goodness, I’ve tried to make this dress style work this month–and not always successfully. This one was too big around the waist while the color of this one was all off. This snake print one wasn’t really quite the length of a midi dress and must be shortened. This one however, in my opinion, is the perfect midi dress for me: it has buttons!
Buttons work for me because I’m able to show some leg. My legs are my best feature, so when they’re hidden I lose what I’ve got going for me. So…if I’m going to wear a midi dress I have learned two things: it must be a button down dress, and I must be able to cinch it at the waist. Here, I swapped out the snake fabric belt that came with the dress for a sporty, white fanny pack. These waist bags are perfect for cinching one’s middle while offering hands free holders for all the needs of a woman: lipstick, phone, tissues, wipes, wallet, pen, notebook…. Yes, I can fit a lot into all my bum bags!
I don’t know why I didn’t learn my midi dress lesson sooner. This winter I wore three that follow the guidelines of buttons and waist: this leopard one, this plaid one, and this green, white, and black one. Duh! My solution was right here on my own blog! How silly of me. But then again, I’m always trying things, so it’s actually no surprise for me to fail every now and then as I continue to experiment with my own personal style.
I have a very faithful reader who knows me so well. It’s as if she sits on my shoulder guiding me, whispering her advice and style tips into my ear. I’m so grateful for every single one of her comments; her advice is always heard. Here in this post I have heeded her tips in three ways: I made sure to belt the dress, I found the proper color for my skin tone, and I wore no socks. Thanks Jude. You’re the best!!
Finally, I got the midi dress right!
At least I think so…
Next week is spring break for us. Woohoo! Yes, teachers have the very best schedule–there is no denying that. We will be in Hoi An for the week. Because I have no idea how my Internet service will be, I have prescheduled posts for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The theme is based around three revitalized pieces that I almost gave away during some spring cleaning, so stay tuned to see how I up-cycled from my own closet.
