When I feel like baking or cooking, I’ll often go to my very favorite recipe depository, Tastespotting.com. We had been back in Beijing for a week and a half, and on Wednesday of this last week, I finally had the urge to enter the kitchen again. When I went to Tastespotting.com, this is a screen shot of what I saw.
I didn’t even notice any of the captions. I just got tempted by a slew of peanut butter cream pies. The one on the bottom, second in on the left, must have looked the best. I linked on it, and it led me to the The Merry Gourmet.
I started reading her post. She began the post by talking about helping a grieving friend. I was wondering about the recipe when I then realized that the Peanut Butter Cream pie had been made on behalf of someone named Jennie in memory of her husband, Mikey. At this point I was linked to In Jennie’s Kitchen. Jennie had lost her husband by a sudden heart attack. Her request for those asking how they could help was to make a Peanut Butter Cream Pie–for those you loved in your life. It was her husband’s favorite, and she had been meaning to make it for him but just kept putting it off her list. Well, I couldn’t not do this. The next evening our good friends Sandy and Tom were coming over for dinner. I got home on Thursday afternoon, and I frantically made a Peanut Butter Cream Pie!
I find the Internet an amazing phenomenon. I love how both Jennie and Jennifer through their love of food blogging and sharing impacted me for just one moment. I was inspired to stop and make a pie for those I love. I hope that Jennie and her two girls make it through this tough time. I feel happy about the connections and the obvious support they are receiving from those on the World Wide Web. To date, if you go to Tastespotting.com, there are 113 posts for peanut butter cream pie. Wait, make that 114 as I’ll be posting this picture of mine momentarily!
