Kevin and I just celebrated our 23rd anniversary this past July 25th. I loved looking at these wedding kiss pictures Cup of Jo found. Sadly, I cannot recall if Kevin and I went big or small; I believe we went in between.
‘Challenge Accepted’: Why Women Are Posting Black-and-White Selfies
What is it about a “challenge” that we all jump on board and participate in? I find this phenomenon so interesting. Does anyone stop to fact check these challenges? I am led to believe that many do not. Hop on Instagram and search the tag “#challengeaccepted,” and all the black and white vanity selfies of women will appear. How does this #instachallenge promote women empowerment? And did indeed females around the world flood a real-life Turkish female rights’ problem? Maybe it’s the librarian in me, but I’m going to investigate before I buy into a movement.
Even Rage Comic hasn’t gotten in on the #challengeaccepted.

Cute Candles
We made an Amazon order this week–which includes Gigi’s new surf skateboard. I included an order of this 12 pack of candles for $15. I sure hope they smell as good as they look! Also included in the order was a 3 pack of fashion tape since I couldn’t find this product anywhere in Hong Kong.
Books
I’m still thinking about this book, and I’m wondering if I should now read this after enjoying the audiobook so much. (Don’t worry: I’ll post reviews of all the books I read or listened to at the end of my summer vacation.)
I Daydream About Going Back: What “Home” Means in 2020
Whoa. And wow! This article about home and where or what it is strikes a chord within me. My “home” is definitely with Kevin. It’s where we are together with our family that we’ve created. But there’s also the “home” where I grew up. There’s the home where he grew up. There’s the home that is our cabin out on Spirit Lake in Northern Idaho. When will we get to go to those homes? At this time the answer to that vital question is sadly unknown.
Indian Matchmaking
As much as we (Kevin, Gigi, and I) completely enjoyed watching India Matchmaking, sadly it did fall short in the end: none of the matches worked! Even Akshay, the momma’s boy that would do whatever she said, didn’t marry the beautiful girl from Udaipur–he found out something about her a couple of days after the engagement. I don’t regret watching however if even for the thrill of being brought back to Bombay for a few of nights. (Yes, we watched all 8 episodes in 3 nights; it’s called binge watching!)
Summer Meals
I have exactly 8 days to get these 8 delicious summer meals in before I go back to work on August 10th…. What to start with? It’s a toss up between the chilled soup with cucumber salad (as seen up above) or the whipped feta with roasted tomatoes. YUM!
