How to Make an Easy Co-Ord

Recently I bought a paisley tee shirt that I just loved. I mean anything paisley is a win-win for me. I wrote about why I love paisley so much here in this white paisley dress. The last time I wore this paisley tee I rather over did it with a loud leopard skirt. This time around I think I got it. I made an easy co-ord by buying the tee again!

With the second tee, I went to a tailor and asked them to create a simple skirt from the fabric of the body of the tea. All that was needed was a little elastic for the waist and then two straight seams down the side. The hem was already made from the tee shirt’s hem. Easy peasy! A co-ord was made by simply using the fabric of the second tee.

I did make (well, had it made is more correct!) this easy co-ord with a Christmas plaid tee as well, but I’ll be saving that for the appropriate time: December! For now that co-ord has been placed in my holiday box that gets emptied and worn once a year.

Is it cheating when I work with a tailor to create my clothing ideas? I don’t think so. I have so many ideas that I want to execute; in the meantime I cannot wait until I become a skilled seamstress–especially when it cost me $50 HKD (a little over $6 USD) to make the skirt. Let me do the math: $80 X 2 + $50 X = $260 HKD for two new co-ords. That means each co-ord was a little over $16 USD each. Ya, that’s worth it!

And wearing this co-ord today at school, I am totally and utterly comfortable. I have this exact outfit–yellow fanny pack included–on at school today, and I feel rockin’ awesome!

Have you thought of making your own co-ord?
