*Warning: This post is filled with pictures–almost 20 to be exact. For this reason I tried to keep the writing to a minimum.
This is our third trip to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Of course we went our first year living in Hong Kong. Then when my niece Elle came to visit we took her. And then now in our seventh year, with Maeve visiting, we had to take her too. In our 7th year of living in Hong Kong, we should have known not to go on one of the busiest days, but by taking public transportation–bus, ferry, and then one more bus–we cruised there. Visiting the Big Buddha within a week of Maeve’s visit seemed like the perfect introduction: culture, people, scenery, and cousin time. Simply put, we had a blast!!
Mini Maeve Buddha
Yes, it’s impossible for Gigi to keep a straight face!
It’s also impossible for Gigi not to flex in pictures! (Don’t blame her; she is very strong!)
With Maeve here for the month of February, Vincent got his share of razzing–which was AWESOME!
Maeve and I took some time to shoot the beautiful flowers.
I only chose two from the many to highlight.
I love, ADORE Maeve’s smile. She tried to teach me how, but I end up just looking plain silly!
The obligatory PROM pic.
Yes to being SASSY!
Well look at this: Kevin took a picture with me!!
There are exactly 268 steps to get up to the Big Buddha.
Aside from the Big Buddha being an amazing site,
it is also quite religious and a very spiratual place to visit.
In writing this big family post, I miss Maeve even more….! We really had such a great time with her as proven by these series of pictures. And, the Big Buddha proves to be one more reason why I love Hong Kong!
