Usually on the first day of school, I always wear an LBD–of the black variety. But, this year, I deviated and wore a new sort of LBD–the little blue dress. With some encouragement from my sister this summer, I was told that I needed to make blue my color. Well if it wasn’t the next day I ran into this dress at HM. I didn’t hesitate at all: I looked for my size, found it, and purchased–without even trying it on. When you know, you know, and I knew.
Blue has always been my favorite color, but I guess I haven’t necessarily embraced this bold, electric blue. Is it Grecian? Or maybe simply cobalt? Whatever the shade, it is definitely bright! And I am ok with that; I’ve never been one to shy away from color.
The school year has started, my jetleg is finished, and now, maybe tomorrow it’s time to get back to fitness. For the first time in a long time, I was able to walk for exercise this summer. Plus, I enjoyed a low impact video routine from Tracy Anderson. And, with a new iWatch received as an anniversary gift from Kevin, I’m able to monitor my activity efforts each day. This watch is super cool! Now I need to start using it…
One very nerdy, but totally fun thing I do each day, is take a picture of my outfit and then set my watch face to match my #ootd. It’s awesome! I’m so overly coordinated with this new accessory. I love it!!
Another accessory I’ve added to my talisman collection is this Virgin Mary pendant. I’m not super religious, but I was raised Catholic. Last year a very good friend, who is also Catholic, pointed out to me that I could pray to the Mother Mary–especially when it comes to guidance in mothering my own children. I never thought of praying to her believing that prayers were meant only for God. Meanwhile I have no problems praying to Lord Ganesha and obsessing over making sure I’ve got an evil eye on (or two!). At any rate, I’d like to become closer to Mary, and somehow my material goods help me with this.
So here’s to a school year of wearing blue, getting back to some sort of fitness level, and creating a relationship with Ave Maria.
Do you have a color you would like to embrace?
What color is it?
