A Librarian Look–Star Wars and Sequins

I wanted to celebrate on Monday: the 7th of May is the day I became a mom 16 years ago. Therefore, to add a little glam to my librarian look, I went for my sparkly Star Wars tee and my striped sequin mini. Granted, this skirt may be a little too short–I was constantly making sure it was about an inch longer than you see here. That’s too much effort and an indication that I’ve pushed my librarian look to far. Sometimes I (accidentally?) do that. Oops!

My photographer has been mixing things up lately–and I like it. I never know what Gigi’s up to, but once I see what she’s done, I’m usually pleasantly surprised. Currently, Gigi’s been taking some cropped pictures of me. It’s different, and I love that she’s experimenting. Now I just have to work on getting Gigi to use her camera–which is waaaaay better–than mine. Baby steps, right?

See. Here’s another sample. So, let’s get back to the kiddos and having celebrated my son’s 16th birthday this week. It’s official: I am in the thrones of the experience, completely, of mothering two teenagers! With Vincent, I’m counting every moment. I want to optimize every single second I have with him. And with Gigi, I’m trying to understand how to reign in her creativity, individuality, and confidence as she ventures into an age of conforming. As always in parenting, once I’ve master understood one aspect of being a mom, they go and change, and I’m back to the drawing board!

Any teenage parental advice out there?

I love my kiddos, so much! I really want to be the best mom I can be for both of them.
