I have been noticing all of these cute lace-up shirts with the deep “V.” I never thought to try one figuring my busty figure would peek right through. I was pleasantly surprised by this striped version: yes, there is a bit of my cleavage sneaking through, but the rope lacing alongside the stripes offers a nice distraction. So while I do have cleavage showing here, it doesn’t feel overt. The moment I tried this top on, I was like, “Yes! I can wear a lace-up shirt!!” This proves it’s always best to try something one just like my mom always said. Pairing this sailor top with white stitched, front pocket shorts, feels like the perfect nautical summer outfit for me. And oh, I do love a little nautical–always have, always will!

If you are like me and want to try out a lace-up shirt but avoid flaunting your cleavage, I’ve found some affordable options for you from Forever 41–op, I mean Forever 21!
My nautical rope lace-up shirt is from the Forever 21 in Hong Kong. Aside from the one I’m wearing I found this busy black and white checked one will not allow a cleavage sneak peek; while this gorgeous coral cold shoulder doesn’t allow a sneak peek at all. This long black flowy one makes for the perfect swimsuit cover-up! Then avoid cleavage altogether when there’s a cami underneath this crochet version. And here’s a sure way to avoid any sort of sneak peeks with a party in the back!

Thank you Samantha! You make me feel good. Really. Sincerely. Thank you!! Love, Annie
I’m with you—-I would never have thought to try this. Although I probably would discreetly sew the bottom portion together just so I wouldn’t worry!
And can we talk about how perfect those shorts are?
LOL —Forever 41—maybe they should change their name—Forever Fashionable?

I swear. I cannot walk in to Forever 21 without picking something up. Yesterday it was the cutest little crop rash guard with mesh sleeves for the beach. I’m set for the weather in Hong Kong to allow us to hit the beach. I’m ready! Come on now!! Do you ever shop at Forever 41? It’s where OVER half of my wardrobe is from. They really ought to consider sponsoring me!! Hahah!
Love, Ann
OMG same here. Save I let my fingers do the walking. I do think my wardrobe is currently 40% F21, and that percentage is fast growing!!
Shall I contact them. Let them know who they need to know!? GRIN
I’m on my way to contacting them! When I purchased a bag full yesterday and received a 15% off card because I spent so much, I thought to myself, It’s time to enquire! The GM was not there, and I didn’t have any K de la K cards on him, so I’m going to go back–in head to toe Forever 21 of course! I would love to work with Forever 21. I mean–that would be amazing. I’m not even sure if they do work with bloggers though. I’m about to find out. Wish me luck!! A x
I actually had never set foot in that store until I started blogging—I’m sure it was the name that put me off! But I have since learned that was a silly misconception (although it was probably better for my wallet to bypass it—ha ha)
Oh man, I’ve had a love affair with that store since…..hmmm….I’m remembering of all places the first one I went to was in Bangkok. I was like this store is AMAZING! I went nuts. And then I kept wanting to go back. That must have been back when I was living in India from 2003-2009. We’d travel to Thailand because it was an easy and rather inexpensive holiday–much cheaper than hauling all four of us home to the States. Then, I can remember when Spokane, my home town finally caught up and got one! Ahh, Forever 21. It’s my store!! Love, Annie
This is clearly not an issue for me, a busty figure, ahem, which is perfectly alright since I’ve grown rather accustomed to my somewhat petite cleavage 🙂 they DO make working out so much easier, I must say. And speaking of cleavages, yours looks divine (is it politically appropriate to describe it as thus, I wonder) in that top. Viva F21!!!
I LOVE the word DIVINE so please, call the Girls DIVINE! I’ll let them know! “wink wink*
Love, Annie
As I said on IG, I really like this outfit! Super cute shorts, fabulous striped top with great lace up details AND the perfect backdrop! This whole post makes me want to go on vacation!
Andrea, me too!! Hahaha. I’m so spoiled by a teacher’s school year. Next vacation is in a month and a half. I think there are 33 more days of school! Woot woot!
Thanks for you lovely compliments Andrea. Love, Ann
I have been wanting a lace up shirt but feel way too uncomfortable with anything low cut (even with a small bust) and would probably wear a cami which would defeat the look. This looks so fab on you!

Hope to see you for TBT Fashion link up.
Surprisingly, I’m ok with low cut. I don’t know why….because I’m busty. Although I think some of it could be having lived in two latin cultures and wanting to be Italian my whole life! Haha! Anyway, in each country I’ve lived, I always need to adjust. For example, the move from Venezuela to India was a big shift! Venezuela is all cha-cha-cha while India covers up the décolletage area. In the end, I take a little of each culture with me, and I think that’s definitely reflected in my style.
Alice, they do have some versions, that don’t lace up very far down. That’s an option you could try maybe….
Thanks for stopping by sweet Alice! Love, Ann
