Influenced by Teens

I splurged on these tennies!

I now have two teenagers. I work as a high school librarian with teenagers. It can’t be helped. I’m influenced by teens. What can I say? But, I love it. Working with kids, I like to think it helps keep me young. I don’t stop to think, “Oh, I’m 44. I shouldn’t probably wear mid-calf socks with lips all over them.” Rather, what happens to me, is I start noticing a trend happening around me, and then I attempt to embrace it. And the trend I’ve been noticing around the teens is to wear your socks midway up the calf. The quirkier the socks, the better. Socks are in–at least among the teens. I’ll tell you what: I felt great on this day wearing this outfit to work. I even received a few compliments from kids at the library–always a great thing! So yes, I am seriously influenced by teens, but I prefer it that way. I’d prefer to be the crazy, colorful librarian than the fuddy duddy one! I’d like to know: who influences the way you dress? For me, it’s totally the teenagers around me.

My dress and shorts are from Zara, and I picked up the socks at Forever 41–Op! I mean Forever 21!

Just to be clear, I did wear a pair of shorts under this very short, t-shirt shift dress!

*Norbyah, thanks for the pics Sweetie! You get them good each and every time. Free this week?!

  1. You look just darling in your funky socks and colorful “cartoon paisley” dress. Having taught middle school for 39 years I know exactly what you mean by being influenced by teenager’s fun fashions. I agree that working with kids keeps you feeling young too.
It appears that your new hip suits you!! You always share a happy smile with us but I detect a bit more” joy” than usual in your eyes! GREAT to see!

    1. Oh Judy. This makes me feel so good. You really can detect it in my eyes? That’s awesome! And yes, I am feeling soooo, so, soooo good! Right now the soreness I have is from DOMS (delayed muscle onset soreness)!! EEek! But I’ll tell you what. I’ll take this soreness over a hip that does not work any day!

As I write I’m in another too short a dress, so I simply wore shorts under it again. This time I’m sporting Converse. I’m definitely becoming a sporty chic dresser! And I love working with teens. Even when they get a bit angsty. Hahah!

Thank you for all your love, support, and comments Judy.

      1. I have been a lover of the converse type sneaker for about 40 years. In the 70’s we called the short variety “bumpers”. I guess because of the big rubber front section.
Anyway I think they’re a darling shoe and they bring a little fun and even humor to an outfit. Not to mention that they’re pretty comfy!
Have you ever painted a pair?

    1. Haha! I don’t think I own a twinset! I do have an artsy chunky pearl ring on my index finger as I write, but that’s the extent of it. Colorful librarian is totally me! And, I’m in a short dress with shorts underneath it again today with Chucks! I think I’ve got a thing goin’ here.

      Thanks for stopping by Jacqueline!

      Love, Ann
