Holiday Cookies

These are fun to make.  Use Christmas cookie cutters and make sure to have plenty of different sprinkles to top the colorful frosting on the cookies.

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 tbs cream cheese
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix the flour, sugar, and salt together.  Beat the butter into the flour mixture.  Add the cream cheese and vanill until the dough begins to form large clumps.  Knead the dough into one mass.  Chill for at least 20-30 minutes.

Heat the oven to 375.  Using sections, roll out the dough and cut out your cookie shapes.  Place the cookies on a baking sheet (using one of those plastic liners that can bake helps).  Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Continue baking and let the cookies thoroughly cool before frosting.  In fact, we recommend frosting the next day.

To frost the cookies beat the following:

  • 3 tbs whole milk
  • 1 tbs cream cheese

Once mixed combine with 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar.  Beat until thoroughly mixed.  Separate the frosting into bowls and add food coloring of choice.  Frost the cookies and add fun decorating sprinkles.
