I never wear green. Rather, I stick to all shades of blue. Lately however though, I’ve been testing out this vibrant color here and there, and I kinda like it.
There’s a reason I don’t like green: my mom chose this color for my bedroom as a tween and teen. At the time my mom was working as an interior decorator. My parents had just built this enormous house to fit all seven of us. It was a really special house that my mom helped to design. And because of her artistic eye, she had some definite color schemes in mind.
The basement, where my room was located, was all forest green with peach accents. My wallpaper was exactly that: a deep forest green with little peach flowers all over it. I hated it. I wanted navy blue; that was my color. On the other hand, green had always been my little sister’s favorite color. I was a navy girl through and through by this point.
Goodness…it has taken me a good 30 years to come around to this color! That’s a really long time. Another reason I usually prefer blue over green has to do with my eye color. When I wear any shade of blue, my eyes turn blue, but if I wear green, they definitely turn green. I suppose either eye color is nice, but I do admit to preferring blue eyes.
Isn’t funny how we become attached to colors. I definitely wear any shade of blue. I often wear red. Sometimes I wear a rosy, pink, blush color. Of course I wear white, grey, and black. I hardly ever wear orange or yellow. I never wear purple either. I usually think of myself on the more colorful side of dressing, but based on the lists just mentioned, I’d have to say no. How interesting…
But green… now this is a color I plan to embrace more often. Who cares that I hated my bedroom when I was 13. I like the color now!
