Gingham Skirt and a Colorful Fence

Gingham Skirt 3

Sometimes I find a setting and then decide an outfit! This was the case here. I mean, this colorful fence was made for me. If I did have a yard with a fence, I would be so tempted to be the eyesore of the neighborhood and paint it in rainbow colors! No really, though, let me share a few details about this very inexpensive outfit. Outfits don’t need to cost an arm and a leg–at least not for me. This midi skirt for example is from a market. Granted I bought it at a Thai night market, but my point is that if one keeps their eye open there are bargains everywhere. Like this top: I bought it used from an Instagram shop. And the little tied scarf was also used from a market. My Adidas runners are the most expensive item I’m wearing, but they’ve definitely earned their cost per wear. Granted, my outfit isn’t fancy, but I felt good in this ensemble–a little throw back to the 50s almost. Tell me: do you feel better in expensive clothes OR is it enough for you to feel good in what you’re wearing?

A Gingham Skirt Just for You:

Just in case you want to copy this look I found some gingham skirts for you at very reasonable prices:

  • This Mod Cloth midi version with larger gingham is very, very cute! While this one looks exactly like mine but with a bow.
  • Old Navy has a super small, checked gingham skater skirt in black and white.
  • Macy’s has a very classy black and white midi

  • Bloomingdale’s has an A-line option in black and white.
  • While this is the most expensive one I’m listed, it is handmade and so sweet found on an Etsy shop.
  • Out of the options I’m sharing, this might be the one I have to order: a black and white pencil skirt from Revolve Clothing. It’s perfect!
  • Just for the fun of it, I’m including three dresses from Urban Outfitters: an off the shoulder in red and white and this perfect black and white sundress or this one.

    1. What a fun look! I am all about finding something that fits….I actually feel best when I find amazing one of a kind pieces that are second hand! I feel good that I did something to the environment and my pocket book feels good too!

      1. Totally! It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to look good. One of the first places I head to when I get home for my summer holiday is my local Value Village and Goodwill. So many treasures!! There are second hand opportunities in Hong Kong, but it’s just not as easy.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Ruth! Love, Ann

      1. Awww, thanks Jacqueline!! Totally Sandra Dee moment goin’ on here, right? You could say I’m from the cast of Grease Lightning!! Hahaha! But, yes, those tennies are very 2016 and a part of my every day look–these days…. Thanks for stopping by PSV!! Love, Ann

    2. So at first I thought that technicolour rainbow fence would completely hog the limelight, Annie, but your outfit (and you) are clearly no wallflower!!! I’ve never ever worn anything tucked in before and that’s why I love seeing that on other women. Who carry it so well. Like you. Similarly I’ve never worn a blouse such as the one you’re wearing and I simply adore how crisp and fresh it looks on you. However, at the end of the day, it’s that wee bandana/scarf/handkerchief around your neck which has captured my heart. Doesn’t it just complete things???

      1. Awww, thanks Sheela. I find that if I wear a midi skirt, I HAVE to tuck in the skirt. Otherwise I go from boob to the widest part of my hips looking as wide as a truck. The tuck is a busty woman’s best friend! This tops should probably most likely not be tucked as it’s a bit cropped, but it works for this skirt. The design of the top makes a beautiful crocheted butterfly. Also, the kerchief, in that sweet little night market, next to this hotel, there was a stall filled with vintage little scarves. I think I’ve bought a dozen between the visit this February and the one last October. I’m a more is more kind of person. It’s really a problem!! Hahah!

Thanks for your blogger love Dear Q. She!! Love, Annie

      1. Thank you so much Zuma. Yep, the total cost of the clothing is maybe $30 USD–maybe. Like I said, the shoes are the most expensive item I’m wearing. But, boy! They have gotten their money’s worth!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Zuma!! Mwau!! A x

      1. Jess, I need to stop buying white shirts–I need another white shirt like a hole in the head, BUT I collect them like water bottles. In fact, just last weekend I bought three more. So silly! I love white tops. Now I just need to get rid of a few so as to make room for the new ones, but I get so attached to my clothing. Silly, silly!

Thanks for your link up Jess. It’s the best!!

        Love, Ann
