While we definitely don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the traditional sense, the expat community definitely celebrates: by Monday evening of Thanksgiving week I have already been to three Thanksgiving meals! Then, on the actual this actual Thursday, we will all be traveling to Taipei, Taiwan to watch Gigi play basketball. I think we’ll manage to get both some sites and tastes in while we’re there. I hope anyway…!
I let my daughter dress me to the Thanksgiving meal we went to on Friday: it was with her team. I’d had on the leopard turtleneck and cowboy boots from last week. However for this team event, I was simply put in a green sweater with black Converse. (Everything was subtle except for Betsy Johnson rhinestone, evil eye, dangly earrings!) The dinner was lovely, and I have already repeated this crowd pleaser twice!
We hosted the next Thanksgiving meal on Sunday. We are very lucky that Kevin’s brother’s family lives here, so Sunday night dinner is a real thing. Although for this Thanksgiving inspired meal, we went the easy route: store bought chicken roasts, precut potatoes and premade pumping and pecan pies. The one thing I did make fresh was this salad from Friday night!!
Each year the National Honor Society students put on a beautiful Thanksgiving meal for us. This year it was on Monday. The food was delicious but the company was even more fine. It’s always nice to get a chance to talk and be with young adults out of the school roles.
There are a few special details to this dressy Thanksgiving outfit. One detail is the ring I’m wearing that absolutely cannot be missed. I purchased this ring in India to match a sari I would be wearing to a wedding. It is a very substantial ring–basically not a big typing day if I can help it. The next detail are my rockin’ awesome boots. I do love me a good cowboy boot. The best thing for me is they are the quivalent to high heels in my mind, so don’t be surprised if I now become a cowboy boot hoarder. I do love me a good yahooo soul!!
Dressy Thanksgiving
This outfit is definitely a more dressy Thanksgiving outfit than yesterday’s plaid suit look. Really, flare, a twirl, and some kick a$$ cowboy boot can transform any woman!
