I’m going to take a break from serious writing and celebrate a new hashtag movement that’s underway: #dressupfriday. With everyone staying home not to mention working from home, loungewear is on full repeat for most individuals. This is all good and as it should be. Making ourselves comfortable is and should be a priority during this confusing and albeit anxious scary time. Since I take great comfort in dressing up, I went ahead and celebrated #dressupfriday.
Usually Fridays at work have turned into dress down Fridays wherein employees get to wear more casual clothes. This concept is a superb morale booster when we are all with one another working. When work is at home, heck some of us could do our job from bed–and no judgment there! (As I raise my hand for the emails I answer from my bed every morning at 8 am!!)
I took these photos a while ago. I love the dress. It’s perfectly floral and ruffly. It’s a dusky midnight blue with fun colors too. But, I’ll be honest. The real show stopper–like literally–is the pair of boots I’m wearing. Here’s my full confession: I have not worn them out like this. I love them so much. LOVE, love. But, I have to admit they make me self conscious. It’s as if they are so fabulous that I don’t know if I can pull them off. Kevin calls them my Three Musketeer gold pirate boots, and that sounds about right.
It’s funny because I’ll pretty much wear anything, but for some reason these boots seem to call too much attention to themselves. I first saw them on this fabulous Insta-blogger, Sammy @turquoiseflamingo (first seen here, then here, here, and fabulously here!). I believe the length of the skirt has something to do with it and perhaps going with black… Have no fear. I will try again.
In reality however, this is how I really wore this dress: with my black cowboy boots.
Which do you prefer? And will you be participating in #dressupfriday?
Believe me: it’s FUN!!
