I love what I did to these basically-new-but-bought-second-hand Zara combat boots. I took out the black laces and added the red to add a little laced up contrast to these boots. I love it when Redress HK has their swaps. (The next swap will take place from November 29 to December 3.) I managed to pick up these brand new combat boots for next to nothing. They literally are brand new. Perhaps the first owner thought they could make them fit, but they were always too uncomfortable… who knows? They are mine now and I am very happy with them.
This last weekend I made the wardrobe switch: summer and spring clothes have been put away and the fall and winter have now made their place in my closet. Living in Hong Kong, I have very limited space; half of it is stored away in boxes placed above my wardrobe while the other half is hanging. I also have what I call WallAnnie–a row of four dresser drawers along the wall that stores my folded clothes. I get excited with The Switch as it’s like getting a whole new wardrobe!
This cute little floral shift can run a little short, BUT I have found the perfect solution. Duh!! I used to do this all the time under my school uniform as a girl. Wear shorts under my skirt. I simply put a pair of black biking shorts underneath and didn’t have a worry at all if my hem ran up. I don’t know why I ever stopped wearing shorts under my skirt. It’s the perfect solution. With the combat boots, I think it adds a little edge too.
These pics were taken in one of my most favorite neighborhoods in Hong Kong: Causeway Bay. The town has been under some distress, so it felt good to get out and about on Monday with other Hong Kongers. Everyone was in good spirits enjoying the holiday Chung Yeung (Double Ninth Festival taking place on the 9th day of the 9th month).
