Oddly, living overseas for 20+ years, Thanksgiving has been a neglected holiday for my family over the years. Some years we haven’t even had a day off; other times we may get Friday off. I don’t think we’ve ever really had the true Thursday off–maybe once or twice.
The sort of Thanksgiving we usually have comes in the form of some sort of potluck. Other years, we’ve ordered the full meal–especially if we’re working. Finally, after 20 years of never having cooked a Thanksgiving meal, I did give it a try. I felt as an American it was something I had to attempt in my life at least once. I was pleased with myself for sure, but to be honest, buying the meal deal and supplementing with Grandma Soogie’s Cinnamon Rolls is the way for us to go!
This suit is a pretty perfect casual Thanksgiving look–especially when dressed down with a band tee and bulky sneakers. I have an H&M literally outside my front door–ok, it’s a block away, but still, I can see it out my window. First I got this blazer (unfortunately it is sold out, but this shirt is not), and these pants which were way too tight! Then, when I returned the tight pants, I saw they came in a trouser style that I had missed, and bingo! I had the plaid suit of my dreams!!
