It was my turn this month for the Ping Pong Post collaboration running between me, Anna, and Samantha. I’ll be honest: I wanted to go with a simple classic. What’s more sure than a Breton strip shirt? The version I chose–a hand-me-down from my sister–has a bit of spunk to it; it’s boxy and cropped. I love when I’m able to sigh sartorially around my sister, and she instantly hands over the piece. I was interested to see how my friends would style something so simple, and of course, I was instantly impressed! For me, I simply pulled out my inner pirate. My hair is out of control these days, so often the best thing to do is tie a kerchief around it. I strung tons of gold upon myself with even a pearly thumb ring. I went for Johnny Depp coal eyes to increase my Caribbean seawater look. Of course, when it comes to shoes, I went with runners, but even those are rose gold!
Anna from Anna Island Style
I love this. I repeat. I. Love. This! Anna took my breton stripe shirt and turned it into a skirt. Isn’t it genius! Gosh, she’s so svelte and cool in this look. I want her arms and figure and everything! With a quick glance, even the tan belt cinching her waist with looks like a tan stomach. I really admire this ingenious look!
Samantha of Fake Fabulous
Now Samantha, she could pass as French here instead of Scottish! How flirty and cute she styled this basic breton stripe shirt. I swear I think this styling makes her look like she’s ready for Paris Fashion Week to begin momentarily. Also, she has the red skirt I’ve been wanting for a while now. But one quick question Samantha: is it really the season for tights again? Your cold weather happens so quickly!

What about you?
I bet you have a Breton stripe shirt in your wardrobe or at least something close. I’m curious… How do you usually style it?

As you know, I always love the PPPs! And this month was especially fun because the three looks are so different!
Your top is great! A classic you can’t go wrong with!

Thanks so much Andrea! It is a cute staple. How many do you own in your closet? I have too many to count!! 😀
Love, Ann
Paris you say?
Only if you come too Dear Annie!!
This was so much fun… one of my favourite months :oD
As for tights, Yes!!!
This is Scotland.
One day it’s warm…like 20 degrees, then 16, then down to 12.
Anything can happen here :op

Sam
Oh gosh. Can I tell you I’m in shorts? :S I’m wearing a short dress to school again–which I have started to combat with a pair of shorts just like a little girl! Ha!
Oh, goodness. Now that Fashion Week is in Milan I am absolutely drooling. I think that is where I really want my bucket list fashion week experience to be. Gucci….awww to be at that show! I drool just thinking about it!!
Shall we make a plan to attend one together? I really want to cross it off the list.
Love, Annie
Let’s do it!
Make a plan to visit Milan.
How fabulous :oD

Oooh! I really want to make this happen!! A x
I really, really didn’t know what to do with this top Annie. In fact my heart sank when I opened the parcel. You see, I don’t own a Breton nor do I do many classic items easily. I always feel I have to jazz them up and this was no different. The fact was that it swamped me and made me look boxy too – well I couldn’t go with that. Anyway the rest is history. I liked that we all had our own story to tell and all sparked by this simple striped top. I loved your injection of golds – real theatre there I say. Sam was adorable as ever with that beautiful red skirt. Hurrah for Ping Pong Post and the fun it’s brought to us all x
Anna
Your styling this time around is my very favorite yet. Pure expertise. Seriously! Right on Ann.
This truly is a fun collab we have going on! How funny–I own too many striped shirts to count! Love them. And I have multiple in each home–here in HK and also out at the lake cabin.
Well…we never know what’s in the parcel do we!?
Love, Annie
Ann I don’t have a Breton stripe top in my wardrobe… I have about 8!!!!!!!!!! 😆 So I’m always on the lookout for new ways to wear them, I just wish I could wear midi skirts with sneakers like you can (remember when you said in my midi skirts post that you can’t?! Well I can’t but YOU can because you have such great ankles and calves, I can only wear midis with heels. So there!! heehee)
The bandanna is a cool touch, love how it and the rose gold sneaks make it a very edgy look. BTW do you have the RSS feed available for your blog anywhere? I want to follow you by RSS by can’t find it… Would you consider adding it so me and anyone else who wants your posts sent to them by email can follow you that way? I have too many blogs in Bloglovin and until I edit them I keep missing all the key people I like to follow.
Thanks sweetie!!!!!

Ok, I tried to add a little RSS link in the upper right hand corner with all the social media options. Will you let me know if that works? Maybe I’ll tweet you. Thanks for the suggestion. That’s a no brainer isn’t it!?!
I do think the midi skirt is a tricky one. Somehow it works for me here, but it doesn’t every time. I’ve got to nail down my formula for an apple figure. I carry my weight in my tummy, so the midi is tough. Now the mini, no prob! Hhehe!
Thanks for stopping by Catherine! I hope I fixed the RSS bit just right.
Love, Ann
Thanks Ann my lovely – unfortunately it only clicked through to a page of HTML rather than a subscription link… Is there a “subscribe by email” widget or something maybe? I don’t use WP so not really sure how that works! x
Looking for something like that now! The HTML page you linked to is what the url link leads to, but I think the url link is what you add to your rss reader if you use one. But I think what you’re after is an email when I write a new post. On it! This feedback is invaluable!! A x
DONE! I think….Does that work Catherine? I added a subscription form right under all my social media icons. I hope that’s what you’re looking for–maybe for others too!
Oh gosh I feel really bad I started this now… Unfortunately that’s only to follow you through the WordPress.com Reader which I don’t use! Other WP blogs seem to just have a “follow by email” option that doesn’t have anything to do with WP (I assume it’s the Feedburner option). Feeling guilty I’ve caused you a headache over this – don’t worry sweetie, thank you so much anyway!!! x
Ok, I have a new post that should come out later this afternoon, evening. I tried the same plugin that you use on your blog but for Wordrpess. I hope this one works! Will you subscribe and let me know? Thanks for helping me with this!
Annie
Thanks Annie!!!!!!!!!! I’ve subscribed (though I didn’t get a confirmation email…?!) – I’ll let you know as and when I get your posts by email!
Is it working now Catherine? I hope so!! A x
DONE! I think….Does that work? I added a subscription form right under all my social media icons. I hope that’s what you’re looking for–maybe others too!
So you must adore Sam’s styling! Guess what? That’s not a skirt but rather a dress. She used the belt to tuck in the top and make it appear to be a skirt. Totally worked in my opinion!
I most always–except for this experimental styling–always wear a red lip. That’s usually a given. But for this time around, I tried to pull out the Johnny Depp in me! Hahah!
Thanks for stopping by Suzy!
Love, Ann
Oh Anne I love this series and your fierce style. A breton tee is such a classic. I cannot believe that all three of you are wearing the same one. Anna turning hers into a skirt was genius, what a fab mini it was. Samantha looks Parisian chic indeed and you are sporty, edgy and cool. Love your skirt and runners.
Come share your awesome style with me on my Thursday Linkup. A brand-new one is live this week, pretty lady. I’d love for you to join it. Thank you and have a great weekend!
