Oh, Bohemian Rhapsody! I haven’t loved a movie as much as this one since La La Land. And just like La La Land, I am very disappointed that Bohemian Rhapsody didn’t win best picture at the Oscars. It doesn’t make sense to me, but I’m not in charge. Luckily, Rami Malek did win best actor in a leading roll, so I am very happy with that. (Because it’s so special and definitely a heartfelt, monumental acceptance speech, I’ve included it at the end of this post.)
I loved it so much, so I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody twice in the theater. The first time around, I did embarrass my kiddos a bit, but I mean, it was basically like seeing an amazing Queen concert. This movie has already become one of those sing-a-long events; I just might have to do this here in Hong Kong. Maybe my kids will join… Hahah! NOT.
The moment I saw this Freddie t-shirt at Cotton On, I immediately bought it for myself. (Cotton On has great t-shirts. Don’t forget to look at the mens’ section–that’s where this one is from.) Since this is a mens tee, I simply cut the hem plus the sleeves. That’s the trick for adapting a mens tee for ladies. Since I was going for some Freddie representation with my graphic tee, I added two things to increase the star factor: my leopard jean jacket and my star patched jeans. Oh, and some gold studded booties and star earrings because more is more when I go to get dressed!
I do have to talk a bit about the Oscar winner: Green Book. I did see it, and I did enjoy it. I thought it was a really good movie. But best film of the year? Not so much. Oh well. Like I wrote up above regarding the Oscars: I’m not in charge. If it were up to me Bohemian Rhapsody would have one–hands down! The acting for sure was super successful with Rami Malek, but all the Queen performances, the set, the singing, and the costumes! My goodness it was all spectacular and will remain the best picture of the year in my mind.
To end this post please enjoy the acceptance speech from Rami Malek. It’s very sweet, very human, very real. He’s a tremendous actor, and he definitely deserved his award! And if you haven’t seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet, please do!
