The other day I was in the middle of a conversation with a girlfriend, and she mentioned that she had attended an Oscar party. Rather than ask what she thought of the winner for best picture, I went straight to what I thought mattered most–what did she wear to the party!? She said she wore a black velvet suit. Perfection!!
Having a black velvet suit in your wardrobe is perfect. If you get invited to a formal-ish event, the black velvet suit offers a great solution. It can be dressed up in a cinch–add a white dress shirt, maybe some pearls, and you are set. High heels are also not obligatory with this classic piece. Boots or flats are a viable option especially since not much of the shoe is seen. Even sneakers could pass!
