Oh goodness, I really try hard not to complain, but this winter is really, really getting old. And I really, really don’t want to wear this heat inducing black turtleneck any longer. But, it’s still chilly, and I always get cold, so I’m still wearing it (even with the matching heat inducing leggings half the time underneath my jeans!). Here in these three looks, I’ve tried to pair my dreaded black turtleneck with the spring like items I pulled out of their winter stowaway. These are some of my first items to grab that I want to wear for this spring: my bright peacock wrap dress, my leopard tie blouse, and my striped boatneck. I just have to accept that the black turtleneck layer is my second skin….One of these days it will get thrown away!
This bright colored wrap dress is pretty old, but I still love to wear it. I picked it up at an HM in London during a transit home from India. During our long layovers, we’d spend the day venturing out and about to kill time–a little shopping was usually always included. This wrap dress was a collaboration with DVF and H&M–just when those famous designers started designing with high street fashion houses. I think I scored a timeless piece! Do you have a wrap dress? For us large chested woman, it can work wonders for our figure! Of course I paired it with my DIY feather clutch!
This leopard blouse is another item I reach for once spring has sprung. The sleeves are short, but I didn’t dare take this black trench off. It was so blistery on the day I took these shots. The blouse offers nothing in the way of a layer, so that black turtleneck was essential. Usually, it’d be a black or white cami as seen here (my hair used to be soooo long!), so this was a minor adjustment.
This might be my third version of this boatneck, nautical striped top. I have one of these shirts out at our summer cabin, and I keep one with me in Hong Kong as well. It’s the perfect transitional piece–not too warm of a top but offering the perfect layer. I remember first hearing about if from my good friend Gwyneth over at GOOP. Hahah! This top is definitely Kremb de la Kremb closet staple making at least three appearances here on the blog: one, two, three, and now this is four!

Hahahaha….so funny, Jodie! XXX
I’m such a brat–I know!! Hehehaha! A x
Oh no! Ok, ok. I will stop whining! I am so bad too because moments after this post I was able to travel to hot and steamy Borneo, Malaysia. I know; I am a spoiled brat! But, to my credit, we don’t have heat in Hong Kong, so imagine being so cold even inside! It can be quite miserable.
Then, just like that, it’s like a switch is turned because now it’s warm, even humid. No more cold. So, yes, I will stop complaining! Until next winter when I’m freezing all over again!! Hahha.
Thanks for stopping by Jodie! Love, Annie
Are you saying you don’t have heat inside your house? No body does?
Nope. NO HEAT! In the winter, it gets so COLD too! Big five star hotels have heat, but your average apartment, like ours, does not. Some apartments have these air conditioners that turn into heat–they don’t work so well. During those cold, cold winter months that were unseasonable cold this year around I slept with Fashy, my hot water bottle! All of us also get out space heaters, but they don’t do much because it’s so cold. If you think about it, all our buildings our cement, to keep cool in the hot, hot months, so when it’s cold, whatever degree it is outside, it’s about the same inside. Brrrr!
When I lived in Beijing, there’s a saying that North of the river that cuts through Shanghai gets heat, south of the river does not. We’re south! Hahah!!
Do you have compassion for my temps now?! Hehe!! Love, Ann
Ok…that’s incredibly crazy! I’m not sure I could handle that! I think I’d be living in the hotels during the cold times!! (or you could move to the states—we have heat here!!)
I hear you style sister! I really do…..
However…as it is not likely to EVER get above the kind of temperatures that would call for a poloneck (in Scotland) until (maybe) June, and even then a day above 20 degrees is classed as “hot”….anything over 25 and we are passing out in the streets from heat exhaustion! Hahaha.
So, my sympathy for your poloneck and thermal tight clad skin is pretty low!
Especially as I know you are packing those tanned and toned pins!!
(mine are blue…honestly!)
I am loving that peacock dress…. (wonders if it could be a PPP item?!?!?!) and the gorgeous leopard outfit.
Luckily, you rock the poloneck layered look, and it really suits your colouring.
Hang in there Annie….you will be sweltering, over there in HK, soon enough!

You are right! I returned from vacay and presto, the heat has been turned back on! I’ve been spoiled with warm weather for too long! And yes, my legs are back to being tan!! Yay! (Psst, I use a lot of self tanner to get them tan! Have you heard of tan towels? I could send you some….They rock!)
Actually the way I’ve styled the peacock dress feels very you–I wonder what you would do with it? Maybe I should send it along…
But, yes, we are all good to go now over here in the Kong. Would you ever consider visiting Sam? I would love to host you!!
Love, Annie
Oh….that would be wonderful. Unrealistic just now, but a great dream! Maybe one day? I am glad your “heat is back on” (as it were). There is no fun to be had in a cold house.
Your peacock dress would be wonderful…but do I have the “equipment” to fill it to it’s beautiful best? :OP XXX
Woman, I’d gladly trade places with you anytime!!! Who’d have thought it’d be warmer in March in Houston than it is in Hong Kong? Oy.
I love your turtleneck with that leopard get-up and the pom poms on your crossbody are SO flirty!!!
And don’t you dare not come over to my link-up, Annie, that peacock dress deserves an audience xoxoxo
Oh my gosh! I’m so late in responding. Serious back log. I am coming up for air so I will try to come visit this weeks link up–my goodness. I am becoming a joke of a blogger! Hahah!
Did you know that I made the crossover bag dear Sheela? I took a second hand Coach bag that I picked up and a too-funky Forever 21 necklace and put the two together. It was by far one of the most difficult DIYs I have completed. Here’s the full story to check it out: http://www.krembdelakremb.com/diy-tassel-bag/ What a nightmare! But, luckily I am very pleased with the results. It is a cute bag, no?
And yes, it is odd that Houston is warmer than Hong Kong. Probably not anymore. The switch has thankfully been turned on!
Love, Annie
Hahahah! True Nikki. True! I love a lil’ peacock!! Love, Ann
Oh no! You are now heading into the cold. It is always so odd watching all my Australian friends enter into the opposite season I’m experiencing. All the best k? Stay warm!! Love, Ann
I’m still wearing my turtlenecks over here too Ann. Black, grey, brown – I have them in so many colourways as I use them like a virtual uniform at this time of year. Bring on the warm weather! Anna x
