I think it’s fair to say I’ve been waiting and waiting for acid wash denim to make a come back. I love all the blue hues of acid wash. Why do some things come and go–especially when they’re so good? I do realize I’m one of the rare acid wash lovers; it’s most likely the wannabe rocker in me. Or, it could be that when acid wash was stylish the first time around, I couldn’t convince my mom to splurge. With five kids to clothe, she wasn’t going to indulge in my denim desires.
A couple of summers ago I got ahead of this trend when Maeve and I bleached our denim jackets to create an acid was look. I love how it turned out and wear this jacket often. Recently, at the same time that I got this shirt dress, I picked up another super dark indigo denim jacket with the intentions of splotching bleach all over it. With the change of season, I’m feeling my DIY itch return. It’s been a while….
Both these pieces, the shirt dress and the denim jacket, are from my local thrift shop, Mee & Gee. I love that when I walk into this store, the shopkeepers know me. This means big smiles and big discounts. They’re very friendly to me as I am to them. The only problem is most–no pretty much all of the clothes are coming from Korea and Japan, therefore the sizes are small. I head upstairs to the men’s section!
Stay tuned for more acid wash from me. What about you….?
